Biography

Born on April 7, 1954 in the village of Kurta, Tskhinvali District, South-Ossetian Autonomous Region .

In 1977 he graduated from the Faculty of History and Foreign Studies of the South Ossetian State Pedagogical Institute. A. Tibilova .

From 1980 to 1988 - head of the organizational department of the People's Control Committee of the South Ossetian Autonomous Region [1] .

From 1988 to 1991 - Instructor, Head of the ideological department of the South Ossetian Regional Committee of the CPSU .

From 1990 to 1999, he headed the Ministry of Information and Press of South Ossetia .

Since March 1993, he has headed the Communist Party of the Republic of South Ossetia [2] .

From 1999 to 2004 - Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia, III convocation.

In December 2001, in the second round of the presidential election of the Republic of South Ossetia , having gained 40% of the votes [1] [3] , he lost to another opposition candidate, Eduard Kokoity .

On June 19, 2009 he was again elected Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia of the V convocation [4] .

In September 2014, as a result of a conspiracy, a part of approximate party functionaries (I. Urigayev, V. Kaziev, U. Gabiev, A. Tasoeva) was removed from his post as first secretary of the Central Committee .
