Arnold Harberger ( born Arnold C. Harberger ; July 27, 1924 , Newark , NJ ) is an American economist, one of the founders of the Chicago School .

He studied at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Chicago (Ph.D., 1950). He taught at Johns Hopkins University (1949-1953), the University of Chicago (1953-1991, professor since 1959) and the University of California ( Los Angeles , since 1991). President of the American Economic Association ( 1997 ).
