Koni, Fedor Alekseevich

Fedor Alekseevich Koni (1809-1879) - Russian playwright , theater critic , memoirist and translator, theater historian [1] , teacher. The father of Anatoly Fedorovich Koni , the actual husband of Nastasya Vasilyevna Kairova .

Biography

Fyodor Koni was born in a merchant family in Moscow on March 9 (21), 1809 . He studied at Moscow University , initially at the Faculty of Medicine, then transferred to the verbal department [1] .

He was fluent in five languages. He taught history in the First Moscow Cadet Corps . In 1836, Koni moved to St. Petersburg , where he continued his teaching career. In 1844, Fyodor Koni wrote the monograph History of Frederick the Great, for which the University of Jena awarded him a doctorate in philosophy . In the early 40s, Koni edited the theater magazine Pantheon of Russian and All European Theaters, and then Literary Newspaper. A master of the vaudeville genre ( The Hussar Girl , 1836 , Petersburg Apartments, 1840 , etc.), in 1840 he founded the Pantheon theater magazine (later Repertoire and Pantheon ), which merged with "Repertoire" and became the " Repertoire of the Russian and Pantheon of all European theaters " [2] . It was published in the Russian Scene magazine, after the magazine was transformed into a newspaper of the same name, it was also published in it.

He gained fame as the author of several vaudeville popular for that time: “The Prince with Khokhl, Belm and Hump”, “The husband is in the fireplace, and his wife is at a party,” “The Hussar Girl” [1] . He translated the four-volume “History ...” by A. Thiers.

He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Nikolsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra [3] .
