Biography

He was born in 1788 on June 23, Vladimir province, Pereslavl district in the village of Podlip (now the village of Novaya Shurma, Sergiev Posad district of the Moscow region ), from the clerk Ivan Emelyanov, who was subsequently a priest in the village of Ermovo . [one]

In January 1797, Pavel was sent to the Pereslavl Theological School , and in September of the same year he was transferred to the Trinity Seminary in Sergius Lavra , where he studied in 1809. At the end of 1808 he was sent from a theological class to the St. Petersburg Theological Academy ; at the end of a six-year academic course with a degree in 1814, on August 13, he was appointed to Vladimir seminary as a professor of church history and Greek. January 1817, he was tonsured as a monk by Bishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Xenophon (Troepol) ; On July 2, he was approved by the inspector of the Vladimir Theological Seminary, and on October 1 of the same year he was promoted to the Yuriev Archangel Monastery in the archimandrite , with the permission to use the kamlot mantle with green velvet tablets during the service.

On the occasion of the call of the rector of the seminary to St. Petersburg on a series of priests and the preaching of the word of God, on January 18, 1819 he was entrusted with the rector's position with the teaching of theological lessons and with the reassignment of previous posts at the seminary. On February 25 of the same year, by resolution of Bishop Xenophon, he was assigned to the Vladimir Spiritual Consistory by the Present Member; November 15 of the same year, by decree of the Holy Synod, was transferred to the Constantine Monastery . On January 10, 1820, the Commission of Theological Schools was determined by the rector of the Vladimir Theological Seminary and professor of theological sciences, and on March 1 he was transferred to the Pereslavl Trinity Danilov Monastery , which he managed until 1830.

Archimandrite Danilova Monastery

During this period of time, Archimandrite Pavel worked hard for the construction of the Trinity Danilov monastery . In 1820, with his diligence he bought a bell weighing 142 pounds 23 pounds for 5,419 p. bank notes; in 1822, the image of St. Daniel was richly decorated; in 1824, an altar on a warm Pohvalynskaya church and parishes were covered with sheet metal; in 1825, fraternal two-story stone cells were rebuilt inside and a brotherly dining room with kitchen and a hospital room for five people were finished on the lower floor. Bishops

In 1859, His Grace, at his own request, was fired to rest at the Pereslavl Trinity Danilov Monastery , with the administration of this monastery. On Sunday, November 27, 1861, at one o'clock in the afternoon, the former Archbishop of Chernigov, Pavel, who was living alone in the Pereslavl Danilov Monastery, died at 74. His body was buried by two archimandrites - Nikitsky Monastery Nifont and the world famous Theodore and all Pereslavl clergy. The funeral word was spoken by Archimandrite Theodore, and the funeral speech was by the priest of the city of Pereslavl of the Smolensk Church , the teacher Fr. Alexander Svirelin . The body of the deceased archpastor is laid in the Trinity Cathedral of the Danilov Monastery.
