Sergey Alexandrovich Konovalov (born April 9, 1973 , Uzen , Mangyshlak Oblast ) is a former Russian biathlete , bronze medalist of the 2004 World Cup , European champion and silver medalist of the European Championship, 4-time champion of Russia, winner of the Russian Cup, master of sports of international class ( 1998). Coach of the Russian biathlon team .

Athlete Career
As a child, trying to find himself, Sergey tried many kinds of sports: he was engaged in wrestling, chess, and attended a ship modeling club. He was brought to biathlon by his uncle, Yegor Petrovich Konovalov, a master of sports in biathlon, a multiple winner of all-Union competitions. His uncle worked a lot with Sergey, instilled in him a love for this sport, and from the age of 12 Konovalov became addicted to biathlon.
At the 2004 World Championships in Oberhof, Sergei was expected to see major career success. He took third place in the mass start , ahead of the Norwegian Ole-Einar Bjoerndalen in the final segment of the distance. The victory in that race was won by the Frenchman Rafael Poiret .

In February 2008, after two victories at the European Championships in Czech Nove Mesto, Sergei announced his retirement [1] .

- 2015 - n. at. - head coach of the Russian women's biathlon team
