Historical essay
Background
The base of the theater was preceded by amateur theatrical productions in 1880 - 1882 [7] . In 1882, the plays of the Armenian author V. Madatov began to be staged in Azerbaijani in Erivan. In 1886, students of the Erivan Russian-Muslim school, at the initiative of the 23-year-old teacher of the Azerbaijani language, Firidun-bek Kocharlinsky , produced a comedy by Mirza Fatali Akhundov, “ Myusya Jordan and Dervish Mastali Shah ” which he received in Gori and Shusha , came to work as a teacher in Erivan in 1885 ) [7] . This production begins the history of the Azerbaijani theater in Yerevan [8] .
Since 1896, performances in the Azerbaijani language in Erivan have been held more or less regularly. In these productions revealed the talent of a young actor Yu. N. Suleimanov. After the school building, the hall for performances served as a hall in the palace of Khan Panah, and when it became too small, the performances were held in the theater of the Dzhanpoladzhanov brothers. Azerbaijanis in Erivan played the role of patrons of art , but not the directors of theaters [7] . In the pre-revolutionary years, the “ Revizor ” by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol , “Haji Gar” by MF Akhundov, “Nadir Shah” by Nariman Narimanov , “The Dead” by Jalil Mammadguluzadeh and others were staged as amateurs [8]
