Korgen ( Nor. Korgen ) is a former commune in the county of Nordland , Norway .
Korgen was separated from Hemnes on July 1, 1918, and rejoined Hemnes on January 1, 1964.
The village of Korgen is now the administrative center of Hemnes. This is the largest village in Hemnes with 1,555 inhabitants. Korgen is connected by roads with the cities of Mu-i-Ran , Mosjoen and the village of Blakvassli .
Geography
Korgen is located inside the mainland and is surrounded by mountains. In the south-west in the direction of Mosjoen is Korgfjellet, in the east - Klubben, and in the north, in the direction of Mu-i-Rana - Kanges.
Korgfjellet
Many Norwegians have heard of Korgen due to poor road conditions and a large number of traffic accidents during the winter. After the opening of the Korgfjelltunnel tunnel in 2005, traffic was established.
