History
The car was the development of the concept embodied in the Izh-5. Features of the car - a bearing body , transfer case, designed by a group under the leadership of A. S. Kondrashkin (the ideologist of the design embodiment - V. Ye. Prudence), allowing one lever to connect the front, rear or all four wheels, as well as a lower gear. First, the car was an independent rear torsion bar suspension . Ground clearance - 230 mm [1] .
To reduce the height of the engine used a different intake manifold, horizontal carburetor "Solex". The prototype was tested at the NITSIAMT test site (Dmitrov) in parallel with the prototype VAZ-2121 Niva. After that, all the work on Izh-14 was stopped. The design was unfinished and little standardized with the Moskvich-412 . In addition, the plant, which is subordinate to the defense industry department, did not receive funds from it for organizing the production of the machine [1] . Despite the fact that IL-14 did not go into mass production, all the experience gained was applied when creating all-wheel drive modifications based on IL-2126 in the 1990s [2] .
