Geology
The height of the mountain is 3253 meters [1] , it occupies the second place among the highest peaks of central Anatolia .
It has a caldera 4-5 km wide, which originated 7500 years BC. The last eruption occurred about 6,200 years BC. The two-headed stratovolcano experienced four episodes of caldera collapse. Modern education originated in the last caldera. The domes of lava formed two main peaks, the western top is higher and has two craters . Hassan is surrounded by more than 25 lava flows and ash cones .
Chatal Hüyuk
The eruption of Hassan is recorded in the Neolithic cave paintings . Residents of the largest city of the Neolithic world, Chatal-Hyuk , collected obsidians in the area of the mountain and changed it for decorations in the neighboring settlements. Obsidian mirrors were found. The significance of Mount Hassan for the inhabitants of Chatalkhyuyuk is shown by rock paintings, on some of which the mountain towers above the dwellings of the inhabitants of the village.
