Watashi no ashinaga ojisan

“ Long-legged Daddy ” ( Japanese: ас の あ し な が お じ さ ん Watashi no Asinaga Odisis, Watashi No Ashinaga Ojisan , also Long-legged Uncle ) is an anime series based on the novel “ Long-legged Uncle ” by Gene Webster . Filmed at Nippon Animation and is part of the Theater of World Masterpieces . There is also another anime based on the same novel - the 1979 special edition Ashinaga Ojisan .

Content

Story

Judy Abbot is an orphan who has the opportunity to study at a prestigious school. This chance was given to her by the mysterious “John Smith”, the shadow of which she saw only once and because of his long legs called him “the long-legged uncle”. The only tuition fee is that Judy must write to John Smith every month without waiting for an answer from him. Anime covers three years of Judy's life until 1927 [1] when she graduates from high school.

Characters

  • Judy Abbot ( ジ ュ デ ィ ・ ア ボ ッ ト Judi Abbotto ) is a fun and smart girl whose parents died when she was still a child. She spent her childhood in a John Grier shelter, where her talent for writing developed. One of her essays catches the eye of John Smith. So that Judy's talent does not fade, he decides to send her to school. Judy considers John Smith to be the only member of his family and is very attached to him. Judy loves to talk. Her roommates are Sally McBride and Julia Pendleton. The role is voiced by Mitsuko Horie . [2] [3]
  • Julia Pendleton ( Jap. ジ ュ リ ア ・ ル ー ト レ ッ ジ ・ ペ ン デ ル ト ン Juria Roux: Torejiji Panderuton ) is a rich and arrogant student, very tall and elegant. The role is voiced by Yuri Amano . [3]
  • Sally McBride ( サ リ ー ・ マ ク ブ ラ イ ド Sari: Makuburaido ) is a shy but cute girl who is Judy's roommate. They became very close friends. Julia often chuckled at Sally because of her height and fullness. The role is voiced by Tie Sato . [3]
  • Jervis Pendleton ( Jap. ジ ャ ー ヴ ィ ス ・ ペ ン デ ル ト ン Jia: visu Panderuton ) is Julia's uncle who has a reputation for being crazy and also the very “Long-legged Uncle” Judy. The role is voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka . [3]
  • Walter Grigs ( Jap. ウ ォ ル タ ー ・ グ リ グ ス Voruta: Gurigusu ) is the secretary for Long- Legged Uncle. The role is voiced by Hiroshi Masuoka . [3]
  • Jimmy McBride ( Jap. ジ ミ ー ・ マ ク ブ ラ イ ド Jimi: Makuburaido ) is Sally McBride's older brother. Princeton University student and star of the football team. Burdened by Julia's obsessive affection. The role is voiced by Bin Simad .
  • Bob ( ボ ブ Bob ) is Jimmy’s university and football teammate. Sensitive, shy, but indispensable on the football field. Becomes a guy Sally. The role is voiced by Yoku Shioi .
