Of the settlements located in the Ruchkovsky rural settlement, the earliest mention is the village of Zagorodye. It is surrounded on all sides by pine forests and mixed forests. This is one of the oldest settlements in the Maksatikhinsky district.
At the end of the 18th century, the Transfiguration Church was built in the village of Zagorodye on the donations of parishioners, which is still operating today. The social sphere in the settlement is represented by: two houses of culture, two libraries, an elementary comprehensive school, two medical centers, a chain of shops. On the territory of the settlement work SEC "Peasant" and SEC "Gorka".
