Biography

Grigory Belov was born on December 6 (18), 1895 [2] in the village of Vakhonkino (now Kaduy district of the Vologda region , Russia ) in the family of a rural teacher [3] [4] .

He studied at a rural school, then at the Cherepovets real school (1907-1915). In 1915 he left for Petrograd (now St. Petersburg ), where he entered the economic department of the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute of Emperor Peter the Great (now St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University ), as well as at the same time to a drama studio led by Yu. M. Yuryev at the Alexandrinsky Theater .

In 1916 he was mobilized into the Tsar’s army and served in the artillery unit on the Southwestern Front [4] .

In 1917-1922 he was an actor of the People’s Theater in Cherepovets (from 1919 - the Provincial Demonstration Theater, now the Chamber Theater), where he first appeared on the stage in the role of the Nile in the play " Philistines " by M. Gorky . In 1917-1920 he worked in the provincial military commissariat as an inspector of the Red Army amateur activities.

In 1922-1924 - actor of the Theater of the Proletarian Manufactory in Tver , in 1924-1925 - Yaroslavl Drama Theater. F. G. Volkov , in 1925-1926 - the Vladikavkaz City Theater (now the Academic Russian Theater named after E. Vakhtangov ), in 1926-1927 - the Makhachkala Theater of Russian Drama (now the State Republican Russian Drama Theater named after M. Gorky ), in 1927-1928 - Dnepropetrovsk center of the theater, in 1928-1929 - Nicholas City theater, in 1929-1931 - the Mobile theater of Russian drama "Shahtorka Donbass" (now the Nicholas Academic art Russian drama theater ), in 1931-1933 - Kazan Bolshoi drama theater (now Kazan State Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theater named after VI Kachalov ), in 1933-1940 - the Archangel of the Bolshoi Theater (now the Arkhangelsk Drama Theater named after M. Lomonosov Moscow State University ) in 1940-1941 - Leningrad State Theater. Lenin Komsomol (now the Baltic House Theater).

During the war (1941-1945) - actor of the Republican Theater of Russian Drama (now the Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia in Petrozavodsk ), participated in front-line brigades.

Since 1945 - actor of the Yaroslavl Drama Theater named after F. G. Volkov [3] .

Since 1948, starred in the movie. He made his debut in the film "Michurin" , where director A. P. Dovzhenko entrusted him with the main role.

The actor’s art was distinguished by the skill of reincarnation, the depth of thought, simplicity, laconicism and, at the same time, the accuracy of the psychological characteristics of his heroes [2] .

In those cities where he worked, he taught the skills of the actor and stage speech . From 1945 to 1950, he taught classes on the culture of the word and expressive reading at the literary faculty at the Yaroslavl Pedagogical Institute named after K. D. Ushinsky .

Member of the Presidium of the All-Russian Theater Society (now the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation ).

Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942 . Member of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR 4th convocation (1955-1959). Member of the Committee on Lenin Prizes in the field of science and art under the Council of Ministers of the USSR .

Grigory Belov died on September 13 (according to other sources - September 14 [5] ) in 1965 in Yaroslavl . He was buried at Leontief Cemetery [6] .
