Biography
The son of the great Lithuanian hetman and governor of Vilnius Christopher "Perun" Radzivil and Katarzyna Tenchinskaya , daughter of Stanislav Gabriel Sangushko .
In his youth, along with his father took part in the war with Sweden , as well as in the war with Russia ( 1609 - 1619 ). During the war with the Swedes in 1617 - 1618, he showed his strategic talent vividly, winning a few previously lost fortresses from the Swedes. In 1622, defeated the superior in numbers of the Swedish army, commanded by the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf .
He distinguished himself in the battle for Smolensk during the Russo-Polish War (1632–1634) . He managed with the weak army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to maneuver around Smolensk during the siege of the city by Russian troops (from December 1632 to October 1633), several times send troops to reinforce the troops, who made their way to the besieged, thereby creating the conditions for allowing the election of a new king and helping Polish troops led by Vladislav IV . After the arrival of reinforcements, he took part in the release of the city, then heading the raid deep into Russian territory. After the war he was awarded the great Lithuanian mace .
An ardent Calvinist , an opponent of the Catholic clergy and King Zygmunt III Vaz , after his death, brought thousands of armed soldiers to the election of the new king, also agreeing on help from the Brandenburg Elector , to ensure the protection of his co-religionists.

From marriage with Anna Kishchanka left two children:
- Janusz ( 1612 - 1655 ) - the great Lithuanian hetman ,
- Katarzhinu ( 1614 - 1672/74 ) - the wife of Yuri Karol Glebovich .
