Biography
Elizabeth is the daughter of the famous Austrian skier Traudl Heher (born 1943), who won 2 bronze awards in downhill skiing at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics. Elder brother Elizabeth Stefan (born 1978) also became a skier, won 2 stages of the World Cup, participated in the 2006 Olympic Games.
In the World Cup, Elizabeth Görgl made her debut in 2000 , in January 2008 she won her first victory at the World Cup stage in giant slalom. In total, he has six victories at the World Cup stages, 2 each in giant slalom, supergiant and downhill. In total, she was in the top three at the World Cup stages more than 35 times, at least three times in each of the five disciplines.
She took part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where she started in downhill, but did not reach the finish line.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, she started in all five disciplines, having won two bronze medals - in downhill and giant slalom, in the other species she showed the following results: super combination - 18th place, super giant - 5th place, slalom - 7 place.
The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were unsuccessful for the Austrians. In the giant slalom, Gergl became 11th, almost 3 seconds behind the winner of Tina Maze . In downhill, Elizabeth remained only in 16th place, and in the supergiant and super combination, Gergl was unable to get to the finish line.
