Profile
Since Marie-Me’s father was a musician [1] , she began to be interested in music from early childhood, when she began to play the piano , and also play in the musical theater. Soon she began to sing, and her grandmother discerned in her talent and future star. In subsequent years, she helped Marie-Me improve her vocal abilities. At this time, Grandma invited Marie to audition for the new Canadian show, The Academy of Stars . Prior to that, in 2001, she began performing in the Montreal show "Musical Theater".
In 2003, she reached the final of the show, following which she noticed her favorite direction in pop / rock music. Unfortunately, she took 3rd place after Marie-Helen Tiber , and Wilfred Le Bouthillier , who ultimately won the show.
After a tour of the Academy of Stars, which ended in 2004, she began performing in the rock opera Rent , which was presented at the Olympia Montreal Theater.
February 28, 2010 Marie performed with the song "Emmène-Moi" at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .
Debut Album
Marie-Me's debut album came out under the name Inoxydable , produced by Fred Saint-Jean, on September 28, 2004. More than 120,000 albums were sold only in Quebec, and in France the album was released in 2006. [1] [2] Several singles reached high places on the Quebec charts, including songs such as "Il faut que tu t'en ailles" and "Encore une nuit" which reached the top of the charts of Radio NRJ .
European Tour
In the fall of 2006, Marie-Me made her international debut. Together with Garou, she sang at four concerts at Olympia in Paris . Also on the European tour there were stops in countries such as Switzerland , Belgium , Romania . In an interview that Marie-Mae gave the French television channel TVA, the correspondent of Claude Sharon, she said that she was delighted with the company's PR in Paris. She also said that despite a short stay in Paris, she still returned to the stage every night. [3]
Second Album
Marie-Me's second album came out under the name Dangereuse Attraction (also produced by Fred St-Gelais ). In an interview with Sherron, she noted that she hoped for similar success as her debut album Inoxydable. The first song from her album, “Qui prendra Ma place” (Which will take My place), and has already reached number one on the French-language charts of Radio Energie. Marie-Me mentions that her second album has become more personal than Inoxydable. Her song "Tot Ou Tard" is a cover of Alexz Johnson's song "Waste My Time" from the album Songs from Instant Star . [2]
Third Album
Marie-Me's new album, Version 3.0, takes off at lightning speed. Launched at Metropolis Records on September 22, it is a great success and is truly perfect.
According to the research company Nielsen Soundscan , which publishes album sales in the country every week, Marie Me’s third album began to be quickly sold out already in the first week of sales. Version 3.0 ranks 1st among Quebec sales and 3rd among sales in Canada , with 11,869 copies sold in just 5 days! These results are impressive to the point that musicians like Mika , Dan Bigras and even Harry Connick Jr. have started recording their new albums.
The re-broadcast live performance of the singer gathered more than 6,000 Internet users across the country, as well as viewers from the United States , France and South America .
On August 17, the single C'est moi went on sale, and it was launched on the same day on radio stations. This definitely influenced the single becoming 3 in the Top 100 BDS. C'est moi sold out well among French-speaking music on Canadian iTunes for several weeks. Within three weeks, the single took 1st place on the Zik.ca website, which ultimately brought it to 2nd place. The single also appears in the 6th position in the iTunes Canada ranking.
Version 3.0 has already been recognized by critics as Marie-Mae's best album. And now the album is officially recognized as public domain!
