Biography
From the driver’s family. Administrative staff member (Verwaltungsangestellter) by profession. In 1946 he became a member of the SED . September 13, 1948 joined the People’s Police. Until 1950, he served in the police of his native Dresden . At the same time he studied at the School of People's Police in Torgau . In 1950 - 1953 he served as deputy chief for political work at the Political School of the National People’s Party of Torgau-Treptow. In 1953 - 1957 there he was the chief of staff. After that, in 1957 - 1962 he studied at the Military Academy of the NNA named after Friedrich Engels, which he graduated with a diploma of a military specialist. After graduation, he held the post of deputy commander for political work in the 7th Max Rocher Motor Rifle Regiment, stationed in Marienberg, until 1964 . In 1964 - 1970 he himself commanded this regiment. In 1970-1972 he was sent to Moscow to study at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR. After his return to the GDR, Krause was appointed deputy commander for combat training at the 11th MSD in Halle . From November 1, 1974 to August 31, 1977, he, in the rank of colonel, himself commanded this division. From September 1, 1977 to October 31, 1979 he served as chief of staff and deputy commander of the 3rd Military District ( Leipzig ). October 7, 1977 received the title of Major General. In 1980, he was appointed Head of the Inspectorate (Chef der Verwaltung Inspektion) at the Ministry of National Defense. In 1982, Krause headed the intelligence agency of the NNA (Chef der Verwaltung Aufklärung im MfNV). March 1, 1986 , in celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the formation of the NNA , Krause received the rank of lieutenant general. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, Krause was relieved of his post. For some time thereafter, he headed the Information Center of the Ministry of National Defense (Ministry of Defense and Disarmament). September 30, 1990 dismissed.
