North Somerset ( North Somerset ) is a unitary unit in the north of the ceremonial county of Somerset . The main and largest city of the unitary unit is Weston-super-Mare (population - 71 thousand people).

History
It was formed on April 1, 1996 by converting the former non-metropolitan county of Avon into the ceremonial county of Somerset in the Woodspring district of Avon ( en: Local Government Commission for England (1992) ).
Geography
It covers an area of 374 km², is washed in the northwest by the Gulf of Bristol , in the northeast it borders with the ceremonial county of Bristol , in the southeast with the unitary unit of Bat and Northeast Somerset , in the south with the non-metropolitan county of Somerset .
Population
On the territory of the unitary unit of North Somerset, 188,564 people live, with an average population density of 504 people / km² (2001) [1] .

Sport
On the territory of the unitary unit of Somerset North, in the city of Weston-super-Mare , the semi-professional football club Weston-super-Mare , based in the 2010/2011 season at the Southern Conference, is based . Weston-super-Mayor accepts rivals at the Woodspring Stadium (3 thousand spectators).
