Biography
He worked at the launch of the F-1 experimental reactor in Moscow , the reactor was launched on December 25, 1946 , where he designed and first applied its development. In this project, he was entrusted with the task of creating the biological protection of the reactor [1] . After the start-up of the reactor, Babulevich, together with I. S. Panasyuk , B. G. Dubovsky and I. V. Mostov, took an active part in the training of physical operators. In October 1947, the first group of nuclear control engineers was trained at the reactor. These people could take the position of shift supervisor [2] .
He also launched reactors for the production of weapons-grade plutonium at facility 817 (the modern Mayak NPO ) in 1950-1952 [3] :
- A - 1 (on June 8, 1948, a test launch, on June 10, an industrial launch, and on June 19, exit to the regime) [4] . Here he was in the administration of the launch groupP-2 . The start was led by I. S. Panasyuk , and BC Fursov , E. N. Babulevich and I. F. Zhezherun were his closest assistants.
After start-up, the Head of the First Main Directorate appointed E. N. Babulevich, I. Ya. Emelyanov, P. G. Dobia, E. V. Egorova, N. V. Zvon, and S. A. Adolf to the position of senior reactor control engineers. G. N. Ushakov, D. P. Kharitonov, V. I. Ardalenov were appointed their understudies [5] .
- AB-1 (launched on April 4, 1950) and AB-2 (launched in mid-April 1950) [6] .
- AB-3 (launched in September 1952) [6] .
As part of the same nuclear military program, facility AI-1 for the production of tritium was launched at facility 817. Kurchatov established shift duty at the construction site of the reactor. There were four on duty - I.F. Zhezherun , B.G. Dubovsky , I.S. Panasyuk and E.N. Babulevich. This reactor was the first domestic enriched uranium reactor, so a number of questions arose when mastering the new technology, especially stringent tracking methods were associated with it: one of the four should always be on site [7] . Its conclusion to the design capacity took place on February 14, 1952 [8] .
Family
Daughter, N.E. Babulevich , followed in the footsteps of her father and in 1962 she graduated from the Department of Nuclear Physics of the Physics Department of Moscow State University [9] . He has a number of patents for inventions [10] .
A son - A. E. Babulevich .
