Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is the largest professional body on environmental practice, whose members are 15,000 organizations and individuals in the UK and other countries [1] .

The participants received updated information on current environmental law and legislation, and the group organizes more than 100 regional events on environmental topics to familiarize themselves with current recommendations on best practices. He also publishes the Ecologist magazine 12 times a year, publishes practitioners' workbooks on selected environmental topics, and organizes National Conferences, with the participation of national experts and opinions.

Membership in IEMA aims to ensure that candidates are knowledgeable, competent and well trained. One of the largest sources of information on environmental work is the official IEMA website [2] .

Organizations are challenged to act in an environmentally sound manner, and the UK government’s agenda on climate change and a low-carbon and resource-saving economy means that IEMA is consulted on key issues, with IEMA engaging its members in most of these consultations [3] . IEMA has been a leader in environmental conservation for 10 years and remains a leader with an ever-growing number of members, as recognized by the UK government.

IEMA is a constituent body of the Society for the Protection of the Environment (SocEnv), which allows IEMA members to transition to the status of a certified ecologist [4]

IEMA is the competent authority in the UK for the European Union Environmental Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) [5] . The Institute also promotes the Acorn Scheme ( BS 8555 ), the phased implementation of an environmental management system in ISO 14001 .

IEMA also approves training courses for companies that conduct training. Currently, there are more than 80 accredited training centers [6] .

Ecologist

An environmentalist (now renamed “Transformation”) is a journal for environmental professionals, published 10 times a year by the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment in the UK . Topics include news, politics, environmental law, best practices and institute news. It is sent free to IEMA members .
