Story
The history of “Shiki” takes place in a very hot summer in the nineties of the 20th century in the small remote Japanese village of Sotoba ( Jap. 外 場 , “distant place”) , surrounded on three sides by forest. A mysterious series of deaths begins to spread throughout the village, and at the same time something strange happens in the long-abandoned mansion of the Kanemas family. Toshio Ozaki, director of Sotobe’s sole clinic, first suspects an epidemic, but investigating this incessant chain of deaths, he concludes that they are the work of vampires in pursuit of the village. A schoolboy named Yuki Natsuno, who hates country life, investigates the mysterious death of his friend and comes to the same conclusions.
