Story
Annette lives in a village in Switzerland . She and Lucien were good friends, until due to an accident caused by Lucien, the younger brother Annette (Danny) becomes disabled . Annette begins to hate Lucien. Lucien repeatedly tries to apologize, but Annette is still angry. Lucien meets an old man named Pegin. Grandfather Pegin discovered Lucien’s talent for carving wood and teaching him the craft. After Pegin tells Lucien that he once robbed a bank, but he again earned all the money he stole, and wants to spend it on some good work. Annette breaks a wooden horse, carved by Lucien for a handicraft contest, and then she suffers from a sense of guilt.
One winter day, Annette tucks her leg. The girl is afraid that she could freeze to death, but, fortunately, Lucien finds her. Annette admits that she broke a wooden toy and asks forgiveness from Lucien. He takes Annette home. Lucien welcomes the opportunity to renew their friendship. But Lucien heard from her sister who worked as a maid that Dr. Givet, a specialist in such injuries like Danny, stopped at the hotel where she works. But the doctor had to leave in the morning, and Lucien, despite the blizzard, was going through the pass to the hotel. Lucien agrees with the doctor, and he agrees to examine Danny. After the examination, Dr. Givet says that Danny needs an operation. Grandpa Pegin pays for the treatment. It turns out that Dr. Givet is the son of Pegin’s grandfather. Danny and Annette are sent to the hospital, and on the return of Annette, Danny and Lucien become inseparable.
