Jiri Magal made his debut in the World Cup in 1997 , in November 2006 he first got on the podium at the World Cup stage in the relay. In total, at the moment he has two hits in the top three at the stages of the World Cup - both in the relay, in personal competitions he did not rise above fifth place.

He took part in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, where he showed the following results: 30 km classic - 22nd place, 50 km free style - 47th place.

At the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, he took part in four races: mass start 30 km - 43rd place, 15 km classic - 29th place, relay race - 7th place, 50 km classic - 19th a place.

At the 2006 Olympics in Turin, he participated in two races: the 15 + 15 km duathlon - 14th place, the mass start 50 km - 8th place.

At the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver he won the relay in the relay, in the remaining races he showed the following results: the 15 + 15 km duathlon - 38th place, the mass start 50 km - 29th place.

In the world championships in his personal races during his career he did not rise above 13th place, in the relay - not above 7th place. In total, he participated in six world championships.

Uses Fischer skis, boots and Salomon bindings.
