History
IP-5 was developed in the Soviet Union for use as an emergency rescue vehicle - evacuation from sunken equipment, as well as for light diving operations at depths of up to 7 meters (limited by the maximum pressure of the breathing mixture created by the regenerative cartridge (regpatron, RP), in which the breathing bag will not be compressed).
The principle of operation is based on the property of potassium and sodium superoxide to liberate oxygen when interacting with carbon dioxide . Designed to protect the respiratory system, face and eyes from any harmful impurities, regardless of their concentration in the air, as well as with a lack of oxygen. After working under water, the IP-5 gas mask must be dried indoors or outdoors in a place protected from direct sunlight. The gas mask should be complete with the front part of the SHIP-M (helmet mask of an insulating gas mask, upgraded) equipped with a black and white mask, a bag (bag) for laying the gas mask and a breathing bag with an overpressure valve and two DP-T oxygen supplementary devices ( additional feed, tank ) for one RP-5 regpatron.
RP-5 (regenerative cartridge of 5 series) is designed to work on land:
- with an average physical activity - 75 minutes;
- with light physical exertion - up to 200 min.
When working under water:
- with light physical exertion - up to 90 minutes;
- at rest - up to 120 minutes
Permissible immersion depth - up to 7 meters. The weight of the equipped gas mask in the set is 5.2 kg. Operating temperature range:
- on land from -40 ° C to +50 ° C;
- in water from 1 ° C to 30 ° C.
