Jan Filip ( czech Jan Filip , December 25, 1900 , Chocnejowice , Austria-Hungary - April 30, 1981 , Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is one of the most important prehistoric archaeologists in central Europe.

Biography
He was a professor of prehistoric history at the University of Prague, director of the Archaeological Institute, a member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences . Author of numerous scientific works, founder of the journal "Archaeological Research" ( Archeologické rozhledy , published since 1949). The creator of a large school in the Czech historical science - among his students was, in particular, a major archaeologist Bohumil Sudsky . He enjoyed prestige also abroad, especially since he deliberately avoided politically motivated statements in his works. His book Celtic Civilization and its Heritage has been published in Russian.
