Mobile World Congress

MWC 2009 ' was held from February 16 to 19. The first day of the exhibition Microsoft announced the expansion of partnerships with LG and demonstrated its new operating system Windows Mobile 6.5 .

MWC 2010 took place on February 15, 2010. One of the main news is Microsoft's announcement of the new mobile operating system Windows Phone 7 .

MWC 2011 was held from February 14 to 17. Nokia , Samsung and Sony Ericsson - announced ^[3] their press conferences, which will be held on the eve of February 13. At the exhibition itself was presented a lot of Android- smartphones and tablets from LG , Samsung , HTC , Sony Ericsson . ^[four]

In addition to large participants, the exhibition attracts more than 1,000 medium and small companies - manufacturers of both components and software for mobile platforms. Some companies are preparing special versions of their products for MWC. ^{[5] [6]}

MWC 2012 was held from February 27 to March 1. Nokia introduced the first budget smartphone operating system Windows Phone ^{[7] [8]} . Microsoft has released a beta version of Windows 8 , dubbed "Consumer Preview."

MWC 2013 was held in Barcelona from February 25 to 28. The latest developments in the field of mobile technologies were presented at the exhibition: progressive models of smartphones , tablets , wearable electronic devices, as well as software solutions for mobile devices. The event was attended by a number of Russian companies, including Yota , which demonstrated its innovative smartphone with two screens . Also at the exhibition, the Russian solution of the Mobile device managment class - SafePhone ^[9] was presented.

MWC 2014 was held in Barcelona from February 24 to 27. The exhibition was attended by many large companies operating in the IT industry, including Samsung , Sony , Acer , Huawei and many others. The exhibition presented new models of smartphones and other electronic devices. Russia was represented by a number of companies, including Yandex , Yota , etc. Russian universities were represented at the exhibition as part of the stand of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia .

MWC 2015 was held in Barcelona from March 2 to 5 ^[10] . Traditionally, the exhibition presented new models of smartphones and other electronic devices, for example, Huawei TalkBand B2 smart watches and similar solutions. Samsung company demonstrated Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge with a curved screen, and HTC presented the HTC One M9 ^[11] . The exhibition was attended by such companies as Sony , which presented the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua ^[12] and the new Xperia Z4 Tablet, Asus with the latest ZenFone 2 and MeMO Pad 7, as well as Lenovo and other major mobile industry companies. Among the most unexpected innovations, Meizu devices can be noted, among which, along with new smartphones running on Android OS, a device running Ubuntu - Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition ^[13] was introduced.

MWC 2016 was held in Barcelona from February 22 to 25. Among the exhibitors were such Russian companies as Yandex , Kaspersky Lab , SvyazKom, Jet Infosystems , SRI SOKB and others.

At the exhibition, many innovative smartphones and gadgets were presented. The Best Smartphone Award was given to the LG G5. The smartphone is equipped with a 5.3-inch display with Quad HD resolution and Always On function, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory expandable up to 200 GB. The resolution of the main camera is 16 Mp (viewing angle - 78 degrees), the front resolution - 8 Mp (viewing angle - 135 degrees).

The main "chip" of the device is definitely its unusual modular design. The bottom edge of the G5 is easily detached, and instead you can install the module ^[14] .

Another major player in the exhibition was the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The flagships of the South Korean company work on the new Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (depending on the region), have 5.1-inch (S7) and 5.5-inch (S7 edge) Super AMOLED screens with QuadHD resolution, 4 GB of operational and 32 GB of internal memory. The resolution of the main camera is 12 megapixels, the front - 8 megapixels ^[15] .

MWC 2017 was also held in Barcelona.

MWC 2018 was held in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1 ^[16] .

MWC Shanghai 2018 was held in Shanghai from June 27 to 29 ^[17] .
