Barnaul Orthodox Theological Seminary - is an Orthodox religious educational institution of the Russian Orthodox Church located in the city of Barnaul [1] , designed to train clergy, Orthodox missionaries, teachers of religious educational institutions, other employees of departments and institutions of the Barnaul diocese of the Moscow Patriarchate [2] , teaching specialists The law of God in non-religious educational institutions and regimental priests ( chaplains ).

Content
History
In 1869, St. Macarius (Nevsky) founded the Barnaul Theological College , closed after the October Revolution of 1917 [4] .
In 1997, it was revived, and in 2006 received the status of a theological seminary [5] . It is the only spiritual university in the Altai Territory [6] .
The number of students at the Barnaul Theological Seminary is constantly growing; if in the academic year 2006-2007 there were 43 students in the seminary (of which 12 were full-time students), then in 2009-2010. 152 people studied at the BPSA (of which 96 students study in the external form) [7] [8] .
In order to improve the quality of teaching in the field of IT-technologies, Barnaul Theological Seminary works closely with Altai State University [9] .
Learning Process
The seminary prepares future clergy. Accepted are males from the age of 17 to 35 years old who have completed 11 classes, single or married (first marriage). The term of study is five years.
Students study liturgy , the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, catechism , moral theology , patrology , homiletics , general church history , the history of the Russian Orthodox Church , practical guidance for pastors, sectology , church art, pastoral theology, psychology , pedagogy , parish economics, dogmatic theology, basic theology , liturgical theology , comparative theology , the basics of life safety , church law , byzantology , the history of Russia , church singing [10] , the state legislation on religion, Missiology, the concepts of modern natural sciences , philosophy , the history of religions, stylistics, the history of the Local Orthodox Churches, computer science , they learn Russian, Altai, English, German, Church Slavonic , Latin , ancient Greek .
A unique feature of Barnaul Seminary is the study of the Altai language , culture and traditions of the indigenous population of the Altai Mountains [7] .
Pupils, even if they are residents of the regional center, live at the seminary. Life in the theological school is built taking into account the traditions and the charter of the Russian Orthodox Church. Students participate in divine services, sing on the choir , and obey as sextons , subdeacons , sacristy , temple attendants.
