The main gymnastic and fencing officer school is a military educational institution of the Russian Imperial Army of the Armed Forces of the empire , for the training of instructors-instructors of gymnastics and skiing.

Content
History
- May 17, 1909 - Adoption of the Provisional Regulation on the Main Gymnastics and Fencing School .
- August 1, 1909 - The school was established (order of the Minister of War No. 348) with its subordination to the Commander-in-Chief of the Guards and the St. Petersburg Military District .
- September 1, 1909 - Beginning of classes.
- 1917 - Renamed into the Soviet military main gymnastic and fencing school .
Learning Process
Duration of study - 10 months. The training program included theoretical ( anatomy , physiology and hygiene ; history and methods of physical exercises) and practical sections ( gymnastics in the scope of the program for the troops; overcoming obstacles; sports exercises and outdoor games; fencing on rapiers , espadrons and shotguns).
The school organized the training of skier officers [1] .

Teaching staff
Initially, the rights of the head of the School were equalized with the rights of the regiment commander . Heads of departments of variable composition were appointed from among the chief officers known for their theoretical training in gymnastics and fencing.
