History
Popular Science Monthly was founded in May 1872 by the editor of Appleton's Journal, Edward L. Youmans, to promote science . This publication published articles on the results of the works of scientists such as Darwin , Huxley , Pasteur , Pierce , James , Edison , Dewey , Kettel and others.
In 1900, the magazine’s publisher, D. Appleton & Company , was forced to sell PopSci . The new publisher is James Kettel , editor of the magazine since 1900. However, public interest continued to decline, and in 1915 the editors transferred to the publisher of Scientific Monthly .
In 2004, he won the CSSP Sagan Prize .
On January 25, 2007, Time Warner sold his then-owned PopSci magazine to Bonnier Group . Since September 24, 2008, a regional version of the magazine has been published in Australia.
In 2007, Popular Science launched the Popular Science Predictions EXchange (PPX) project , a betting platform for predicting the latest inventions and technologies. For example, project participants could bid on the release date of iPod touch or on the date of settlement of the Chinese city of Dongtan .
On March 5, 2010, all issues of the magazine up to March 2009 were posted publicly on the Google Books website. [2] [3]
