Coming from a noble family, St. Miroclus was the first bishop of Milan after the promulgation of the Edict of Milan . Under him, during the time of Emperor Constantine the Great , the construction of the cathedral began, which was continued with his follower, St. Materna .
It is believed that under him the foundations of the Ambrosian singing and liturgy were laid.
St. Miroclus was a member of the cathedral in Rome for 313 years and the cathedral in Arles for 314 years .
