SGI Octane (1997-2000)

Octane (codename "Racer" ) and Octane2 ( "Speedracer" ) are workstations from Silicon Graphics . Both use up to two MIPS processors , originally MIPS R10000 . Newer versions use MIPS R12000 and R14000 processors . Octane2 has several improvements over Octane, including an improved motherboard, power, and a VPro video card.

The Octane series replaced the Indigo2 system, and was later replaced by Tezro itself . SGI discontinued Octane2 in July 2004; support continued until July 2009.
