Vibeke Skofterud ( Norwegian Vibeke Westbye Skofterud ; April 20, 1980 , Ashim - July 28, 2018 , Arendal ) - Norwegian skier , Olympic champion, two-time world champion. She won all her medals as part of the relay.

Career

She won five gold and one silver medal at the 2000 Roller Skiing World Championships .

In the World Cup, Vibeke Skofterud made her debut in 2000 , in December 2001, won his first victory at the World Cup stage in the relay. In total, she had 12 victories at the stages of the World Cup, all in the relay. In personal competitions, she did not have victories in the World Cup, but she went up to the podium seven times.

She took part in the Salt Lake City Olympiad-2002, showed the following results there: sprint - 21st place, mass start 15 km - 28th place, duathlon 5 + 5 km - 28th place, 30 km classic - 8th place.

At the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, she became the Olympic champion in the relay, in individual races she showed the following results: 10 km in the skate - 22 place, the duathlon 7.5 + 7.5 km - she left.

At the World Championships during her career she won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal, all in the relay. In total, she participated in five world championships.

July 28, 2018 she died in southern Norway as a result of a watercraft accident on the water [2] .

Personal life

Skofterud suffered from an eating disorder , which, according to her, made her miss a series of starts. Since 2008, she lived with a regular girlfriend, although before that she was in heterosexual relationships [3] .
