Rory Patterson ( born Rory Patterson ; born July 16, 1984 , Strabane ) is a Northern Irish footballer who is a forward in the Derry City club, a former player in the Northern Ireland national team .

Career
Club
Rory Patterson's professional career began in Rochdale , for which Rory made his debut in October 2002 . Despite the fact that Patterson was recognized as the best young player of the league in the 2003/04 season, Rochdale did not renew his contract with him, in July 2004 Patterson moved to Radcliffe Borrow [1] .
In the new club, Patterson spent only a few months, and in November 2004 he moved to Mossley , [2] which he played for until the end of the 2004/05 season.
In 2005, Patterson moved to the United of Manchester , for which he had a total of 129 official matches and scored 99 goals [3] .
In the first match for the “United of Manchester”, Patterson, having entered the field without a number on a T-shirt, received from his fans the nicknames “Mr. Riddle” and “The Man without a Name” [4] .
At the end of the 2006/07 season, in which the Irishman scored 39 goals in 45 matches, Rory was named the best young player in semi-professional football in England [5] .
In the summer of 2008, Patterson, along with another United of Manchester striker Stuart Rudd, moved to Bradford Park Avenue . [6] In the first friendly match for the new club, the Irishman distinguished himself with a hat-trick , but was later expelled from the team because instead of preparing for the match he rested with his family in Mallorca [7] .
In 2009, Patterson moved to Droilsden , but, having been injured, he was unable to gain a foothold in the squad.
July 27, 2009 Patterson moved to the club of the Northern Irish Premier League " Coleraine " [8] . In preparation for the new season, Rory scored 10 goals in 8 games for a new club. Patterson continued to stamp goals in official matches, having scored 41 goals for the season and becoming not only the league's top scorer, but also the best player of the season at the end of the season [9] . Patterson also set a league record, winning the title of best player of the month for the season in February 2010 [10] .
The young striker was noticed by the champion of Northern Ireland “ Glentoran ”, with whom Patterson signed a preliminary contract [11] , but despite this, on June 5, 2010, Rory joined the club of the First League of England “ Plymouth Argyle ” [12] .
On August 14, 2010, Patterson entered the field for the first time in a Plymouth home game and scored his first goal for the new club in the fourth minute, bringing a draw to Plymouth [13] .
In July 2010, Plymouth leased Patterson to the champion of the Northern Ireland Premier League , Linfield [14] .
In January 2012, Rory signed a three-year contract with the Irish " Derry City " [15] .
On November 4, 2012, Patterson scored a double in the Ireland Cup final , in which his Derry City beat St. Patricks Athletic 3-2 [16] .
On July 3, 2014, Patterson scored his first goal in European competition in the Europa League match against Aberystwyth Town . In the return match, which took place on July 10, 2014, Patterson designed a hat-trick [17] , which became the first in the history of Derrick City in European competitions [18] .
Since 2015, he has acted in the Australian National Premier League for the club " Coburn City " [19] .
In October 2015, seven years later, he returned to the English United of Manchester [20] .
In the national team
In February 2010, Patterson was first called to the Northern Ireland national team for a friendly match against Albania [11] . In the same match, he debuted for the national team. In May 2010 he was again called up to the national team for friendly matches against Turkey and Chile [21] . In the match against Turkey, he made his first appearance in the national team starting lineup. On September 3, 2010, Patterson was first announced for the official match of the national team [22] . Northern Ireland held the starting qualifying match for Euro 2012 against the national team of Slovenia , and Patterson, who is in the reserve, did not enter the field [23] . November 17, 2010 in a friendly match against Morocco Patterson scored his first goal for the national team. Having implemented a penalty on the 86th minute of the meeting, he brought his team a draw [24] .
