Biography

During the Second World War was in the concentration camp Dachau . After the war he emigrated to Palestine , where he studied at the Hebrew University ( Jerusalem ). Then moved to the USA . Bachelor (1953) and Master of Science (1954) of the University of California (Berkeley) , Master of Arts (1955) and Ph.D. (1957) of the University of Chicago . He taught at the University of Chicago (1956-59, 1960-69, professor since 1964) and Harvard (1964-1999). He was awarded the medal of J. B. Clark (1965). President of the Econometric Society (1975) and the American Economic Association (1993).

Griliches was one of the founders and invited professor (1995) of the New Economic School ( Moscow ). Since 2001, the school in the honor of the scientist organized cycles (2-3 lectures) of the annual Grilichesov lectures. Among the lecturers: O. Blanchard (2001), K. Rogoff (2006) and others.
