The administrative center is the city of Zhizdra .
History
The volost was formed in the mid-1920s, during the enlargement of the volosts of the Zhizdrinsky district . Combined united historical Zikeevsky, Kondrykinsky, Yarovshchinsky and part of the Ulemly volost .
In 1929 , with the introduction of district division, the volost was abolished, and on its territorial basis the Zhizdrinsky district of the Bryansk district of the Western region [1] (now part of the Kaluga region ) was formed.

As of January 1, 1928, the Zhizdrinsky volost included the following village councils: Verkhneakimovsky, Voilovsky, Dubrovsky, Zikeevsky, Inochinsky, Kondyrkinsky, Lazinsky, Lukavetsky, Luxembourg, Murachevsky, Nikitinsky, Ozersky, Oslinsky, Pesochensky, Petrovsky, Polomsky Ulemlsky, Khromylevsky, Chernopotoksky, Yarovshchinsky [2] .
