Stura Hammar Stone

Hammars (I) .JPG

The Stura Hammare stone is a phallic-shaped picture stone in the Stura Hammare , Lerbru area on the island of Gotland .

Scenes of mythological, religious and historical content are carved on the stone: scenes of sacrifice (presumably, of the “ blood eagle ” type) on the altar with a valknut , drakkar with the warriors, a warrior before hanging on a tree with an image of a valknut.

The stone partially illustrates the legend of Hild , according to another version - the legend of the eternal battle ( another scand. Hjaðningavíg ).
