History
Back in 1953, a group of prospectors led by Al Kulan claimed the land, which will subsequently be the Faro mine. In 1960, Dynasty Explorations was formed to work on the site. In 1965, more than 100 people worked on the site. [2] The city grew along with the mine. Despite the forest fire that happened in 1969 and almost destroyed the newly rebuilt city, the company restored it [2] [3] . In 1979, the population of Faro was 800 people, and in 1981 - about 2000 people [4] . However, lower metal prices and a mid-1980s recession led to the closure of the mine. In 1985, 97 people lived in the city [4] .

According to the 2006 census, 341 people live in the city, which is 8.9% more than in 2001. The average age of city residents is 44.8 years. [five]
