Alla zoppa ( Italian. Alla zoppa - stumbling, lame) is a musical term applied to a syncopated rhythm [1] . The uneven rhythm at this character of music is formed from incorrectly constructed syncope , in which the connected notes have, despite the rules of writing syncope, unequal duration. In particular, this lame rhythm is noticeable if the first note set for a weak time has a shorter duration than the second.
In A Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Alla Zoppa is described as
The rhythm in which the second eighth is emphasized in a 2/4 beat, as in some Hungarian works
Original Text (Eng.)It is a rhythm of 2-4 times it is accentuated, as in certain Hungarian pieces [2] .
Leonard Ratner describes Alla Zoppa as “Uneven, Lame Rhythm” [3] .
