Kuril larch ( Latin Larix kurilensis ) is a species of larch growing in southern Sakhalin , on the Kuril Islands ( Shikotan and Iturup islands ) and Kamchatka .

It is found in swampy lowlands, in river valleys on sea terraces and coastal sands.
Trees up to 20 m high at 60 - 80 cm in trunk diameter. In conditions of constant sea winds they are stunted (from 3 to 12 m), with low-set, open and flag-shaped crowns.
Shoots purple-pink or reddish-brown, short hairy brown hairs.
Needles 1 - 2 cm long.
Cones are spherical, 1 - 1.5 cm long, have 10 - 20 scales, located in 3-4 rows.
