Information about the life of St. Anatoly was not preserved. The “teraturgim” of the cathedral monk Athanasius (Kalofoysky) ( 1638 ) calls him an old man and a miracle worker. Local veneration of Anatoly the Recluse began at the end of the 17th century when the Pechersk archimandrite Varlaam (Yasinsky) (future metropolitan of Kiev) established the celebration of the Cathedral of the Reverend Fathers of the Far Caves. In the service to the cathedral of saints compiled at that time, Anatoly the Recluse is mentioned in the second troparion of the ninth song along with the Monks Spyridon and Nicodemus . According to Filaret (Gumilevsky), Anatoly worked along with these saints in the XII century. The Description of Russian Saints, known from the lists of the end of the 17th century, includes Anatoly among the saints of the “city of Kiev”.

Church worship began after the permission of the Holy Synod in the second half of the 18th century to include the names of a number of Kiev saints in the church’s common church words . The memory of the Monk Anatoly on July 3 was established in honor of the namesake with St. Anatoly of Constantinople .
