Distribution and Ecology
Caucasus : northwestern part of Armenia , Georgia ( Trialet and Adjar-Imereti ranges to the eastern part of Adjara ); Turkey : East Pontic Mountains to Gyumyushane in the West.
It grows in low grass meadows , in the alpine zone , at an altitude of 2000-3000 m above sea level.
Botanical Description
Plants are highly branched, pubescent with short and curly hairs. Stems open or upright, fertile shoots densely leafy.
Leaves oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate, 10-14 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, with very short petioles or sessile, along the edge with several teeth or whole with a curled edge.
Inflorescences are finite and in the axils of the upper leaves, short, rather dense. Bracts oblong-ovate, glandular-ciliary, one and a half to two times shorter than thin pedicels , arched and curved and deflected by the fruits. Calyx segments unequal, oblong-elliptical.
The box is back-heart-shaped or kidney-shaped, with a width exceeding the length, round at the base.
