Content
History
Presnensky prison was built in the 1900s as the Central transit prison. According to the project of a civil engineer Voeikov, a body of solitary cells was built.
In the period of the Great Terror of 1937–38, thousands of prisoners passed through Presnensky Transit Prison, sent from Moscow to the GULAG camps. The prison became the remand prison in 1960.
Currently
Currently, the institution operates an online store of the detention facilities of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Moscow. The presented product range was selected and approved by the FSIN Department of Russia in Moscow.
There is a house church in the name of the Icon of the Mother of God, “Sureta of Sinners”, assigned to the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Tushino .
In December 2018, in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, Valery Maksimenko, deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, announced a decision to close SIZO No. 2 (Butyrsky detention center) and No. 3 ( Presnensky detention center ). Instead of them, a new pre-trial detention center for 5,000 places will be opened outside the Moscow Ring Road, either in the Kaluzhskoye Highway (in New Moscow ) or Dmitrovskoye Highway .
