Mount Karaulnaya is located in the north of the Shaitan Uval (the highest point) south of the village of Podvoloshnaya in the Middle Urals . It stretched from north to south for 2 km. Height 486.4 m.

Until the 30s of the XX century, a tower stood on the top of the mountain to monitor the preservation of the forest from fire and unauthorized logging. From the guard duty, the name received the mountain.
A large deposit of quartzite , a raw material for the production of dinas refractory products, was discovered in the bowels of the mountain. Since 1932, a dinas plant began to operate on the eastern slope, and a quartzite mine in the mountain. Quartzite is mined in a deep quarry . But the name is preserved in the memory of the people.
