History
The Bajano League is held under the auspices of the FBF - Bajano Football Federation ( port.-Brazil. Federação Bahiana de Futebol ), founded in 1913. According to the CBF rating, Liga Bajano currently ranks 7th in strength in Brazil.
The Bahia State Championship was established on November 15, 1904. This is one of the oldest state championships in all of Brazil (only the Paulista League is older). The founders of the League were the São Paulo Club, the Internationale de Cricket Club, the Victoria Sports Club (now Vitoria) and the Bahiyano Sports Club.
Over the more than 100-year history of championships in the state, two distinct club leaders stood out - Bahia and Vitoria. At the same time, Bahia was a co-founder of the Club of Thirteen , the organization of the most popular teams in Brazil, won the first all-Brazilian tournament - the Brazil Cup in 1959 , and also became the champion of Brazil .
In 2010, the state championship is held on a multi-stage system. At the first stage, 12 clubs are divided into two groups in which two-round tournaments are held. The four best clubs from each group go to the second stage. The worst four teams play in the "death tournament" for two places in the top division for next year. The eight best ones are again divided into two groups (which are now called group 3 and group 4 ), four teams each. Once again, a two-round tournament is played and the two best each go to the semifinals of the championship. The first teams of the groups play with the second. The winners of the semifinals will play the title of state champion. At both stages of the playoffs, teams play two matches - at home and away.

- ↑ Little is known about the Bahia Sports Club ( port.-Brazil. Sport Club Bahia ). The club in the first season of participation in the top division confidently became the state champion, but already in the middle of the next season withdrew from the tournament for unknown reasons. This team is not related to the current “Bahia”, which was formed as a result of the merger of the two teams - “Bahiyano Tennis Club” and “Bahia Athletic Association”.
- ↑ Atletico Football Club ( Brazilian port. Atlético Futebol Clube ) was founded on May 7, 1912 by a former player of the Santos Dumont club, and since there were few football teams in the state, he was immediately accepted into the League. He won the championship of 1912, and in 1913 did not begin to enter the new League and ceased to exist.
- ↑ International ( port.-Brazil. Sport Club Internacional (Bahia) ) took second place in the reformed championship of 1913 and won the 1914 tournament. The team spent the last worthy season in 1916 , taking third place. After that, the club was a hopeless outsider of the League, and after the reduction of its members in 1922, it was completely expelled from it. Now the club does not exist.
- ↑ Fluminense from Salvador ( port.-Brazil. Fluminense Futebol Clube (Salvador) ) appeared after the reorganization of the League in 1913 , when its composition was 100% updated. Fluminense lasted longer than other one-day teams that became Bahia champions. In addition to two champion titles, the team 6 times (1914, 1916, 1917, 1919, 1920, 1930) became the vice champion of the state, and in 1946 won the Inisio Tournament. With the introduction of professionalism, the club ceased to exist.

- ↑ Botafogo Sports Club ( Brazilian port. Botafogo Sport Club ) is one of the most successful Bahia clubs of the 1920s and 1930s. 7-time state champion. Also, the team took the 2nd place 7 times (1918, 1929, 1932, 1943, 1954, 1965, 1977). The club’s last “success” was second in the 1984 State Championship Division 2. In 1990, it was decided to terminate the functioning of a professional team. However, the club continues to perform at the children's and youth level, a sports school is functioning.

- ↑ In 1999, one of the most controversial state championship rallies took place. “Bahia” and “Vitoria” won one stage of the tournament (each time playing in the finals with each other) and had to fight in the super final for the final title. Even the first match was played, in which Bahia was stronger than 2-0. But the second match was never played because of conflicts over the venue of the game. In 2002, the FBF ruled that the 1999 state title was not played at all. However, in 2005 she awarded the title to both clubs.
