The Alexander Fadeev Medal is a state award of the USSR awarded for the creation of works of literature on the heroic feat of the people in defending the Motherland, on the history and life of the country's Armed Forces. [1] Named after writer Alexander Fadeev . Established by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 45 of January 17, 1972. [2]

Annually, on the Victory Day on May 9, one gold and three silver medals were awarded. The prizes were approved by the secretariat of the USSR SP and the Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army and Navy of the USSR .
In the 1980s, three gold and five silver medals were awarded.
Works awarded the Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR for the medal to them. A. A. Fadeev not introduced.
In 2002, the award was revived as the Literary Prize. Alexandra Fadeeva .
