Biography

Born April 13, 1967 in Moscow, graduated from high school, and then vocational school (1985). In 1985-1987 he served in the Armed Forces.

In 1987 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary , and after graduating in 1991, he was admitted to the Moscow Theological Academy .

On March 25, 1993, Vice-Rector of the MDAiS Archimandrite Venedikt (Knyazev) was tonsured a monk with the name Tikhon in honor of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow .

On April 7 of the same year, the rector of the MDAiS, Bishop Filaret (Karagodin), was ordained hierodeacon .

He was a senior deacon at the Theological Academy; in 1995 he was appointed Dean of the Intercession Academic Church.

In 1995, he graduated from the Moscow Academy of Arts with a Ph.D. in theology for the work "Rev. Theodore Studite - teacher of monasticism." After graduation, he was left a teacher at the Moscow Theological Seminary, taught liturgy , homiletics, and the ancient Greek language .

On January 6, 1996, Bishop Eugene (Reshetnikov) was ordained a hieromonk . In the same year, on the occasion of Easter, Patriarch Alexy II was awarded a pectoral cross .

By the day of Holy Easter 1999, he was elevated to the rank of hegumen .

On December 24, 2004 by the decision of the Holy Synod he was appointed a member of the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem [1] , and on October 6, 2006 he was appointed head of the mission [2] .

October 8, 2006 in the Assumption Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Patriarch Alexy II was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite [3] .

Chairman of the Financial and Economic Department of the Moscow Patriarchate

On March 31, 2009, by decision of the Holy Synod, Archimandrite Tikhon was elected bishop of Podolsky, vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. And he was also appointed chairman of the revived Financial and Economic Department of the Moscow Patriarchate with the dismissal of the head of the Russian Theological Mission in Jerusalem [4] .

April 14 of the same year was appointed rector of the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Khamovniki .

On April 25 of the same year, Archimandrite Tikhon was appointed bishop in the Cross Church of All Saints, the Patriarchal and Synodal Residences of the Danilov Monastery in the Russian land, [5] .

On April 26 of the same year, during the liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior , the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Tikhon was performed. The ordination was performed by: Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill , Metropolitan of Washington and New York Jonah (Paffhausen) ( Orthodox Church in America ), Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk (Alfeyev) , Archbishop of Ottawa and Canada Seraphim (Storheim Church in America) Archbishop Vereisky Eugene (Resetnicov) Archbishop Nut-Zuevsky Alexis (Frolov) Archbishop Sergievo-Posadskiy Feognost (Guzik) Archbishop Borispolsky Anthony (Pakanich) , Bishop Krasnogorskij Sawa (Volkov) , Bishop Dmitrovsky Alex etc. (Agrika) , Bishop Lyuberetskiy Benjamin (Zaritskii) , Bishop Gatchinsky Ambrose (Ermakov) , Bishop Bronnitsky Ignatius (Puning) , Bishop Surozhsky Elisha (Ganaba) , Bishop Solnechnogorskiy Sergy (Chashin) . He became the first bishop to be put on the patriarchate of Patriarch Kirill [6] .

On July 27, 2009, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was included in the Inters Cathedral Assembly of the Russian Orthodox Church [7] .

On March 22, 2011, he was ex officio included in the newly formed High Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church [8] .

Since 2011, he has been the head of the North-Eastern Vicariate (nourishes the North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow) [9] , officially appointed as the Head of the Vicariate and is included in the Diocesan Council of Moscow only on December 31 of the same year [10] .

On July 25, 2014, he was relieved of his post as chairman of the Financial and Economic Directorate of the Moscow Patriarchate in accordance with the submitted petition [11] .

Ministry in Western Europe

On October 22, 2015, he was appointed administrator of the Vienna-Austrian and Hungarian dioceses [12] . He visited Austria for the first time on November 5 of that year, and Hungary on November 9, where on November 10 he met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Hungarian Government, Zsolt Šiemen. [13]

On December 28, 2017, he was released from the administration of the Vienna-Austrian and Hungarian dioceses and was appointed manager of the Berlin-German diocese with the title “Podolsky” retained [14] due to the fact that the title Berlin and German is already held by Archbishop Mark (Arndt) [15]

On January 9, 2018, Patriarch Kirill was relieved of the administration of the Northeast Vicariate of the city of Moscow [16] and the post of rector of the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Khamovniki [17] .

On February 1, 2018, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was elevated to the rank of archbishop [18] .
