History
In 1851, at the opening of the New Cemetery in Gatchina, a small wooden chapel was consecrated in its territory, consecrated in the name of All Saints . By the 1880s, the chapel had fallen into disrepair. In its place in 1888-1889, the Church of All Saints was built. The design of the church was developed by Nikolai Vsevolodovich Dmitriev , architect of the Gatchina Palace Administration.
Divine services in the church were held before the arrest of its rector Archpriest Alexander Kalachev February 28, 1938 (shot March 12), then it was closed. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the temple was damaged, over the next decades brought to a ruined state, in which it remains to this day.
In January 2014, with the blessing of the bishop of Gatchina and Luga, Mitrofan (Osyak), the request for the creation of the Parish of the Church of All Saints for the further restoration of the church and the development of parish life was granted. On January 26, the first Divine Liturgy of the newly formed parish took place in the chapel of St. John the Baptist, which is attributed to the church of All Saints. After the service of the Deanery of the Gatchina City District, Metropolitan Archpriest Vladimir Feer read out a decree appointing Priest Alexander Asonov as the rector and held the first meeting of the parish. At the moment, the parish combines two temples, the Church of All Saints and the temple chapel of John the Baptist.
The Easter service of 2015 at the Church of All Saints marked the beginning of regular worship in this amazing temple of Gatchina.
