Biography
She studied at the Folkwang Graduate School in Essen with Anna Erler-Schnaudt , then at the Berlin Graduate School of Music with Hermann Weissenborn . Received predominant fame performance of low women's parties in the "Passion" by Johann Sebastian Bach and other large-scale oratorios conducted by such conductors as Günther Ramin , Wilhelm Furtwängler , Eugen Jochum , Herbert von Karajan . As an opera singer, she is known mainly for her performances in the Wagnerian repertoire, including regular participation in the Bayreuth festival (since 1960 ). She participated, in particular, in the recordings of the operas “The Nuremberg Mastersingers ” ( 1956 , conductor Rudolf Kempe ), “The Gold of the Rhine ” ( 1960 , conductor Rudolf Kempe ), “ Siegfried ” ( 1962 , conductor Georg Solti ), “The Death of the Gods ” ( 1967 , conductor Karl Boehm ), as well as The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ( 1964 , conductor Otto Klemperer ), etc.
