Description
βThe flag is a rectangular panel with a width-to-length ratio of 2: 3, divided into three parts β the top red in the form of an overturned equilateral triangle that does not reach the top edge by 5/18, the base of which coincides with the top edge of the cloth; white in the form of a strip (1/8 of the width of the cloth), forming an angle, resting on the bottom edge; and green in the form of two identical triangles. "
Symbolization Justification
The flag of the city of Nikolsk is designed on the basis of the coat of arms , which in the language of symbols and allegories reflects the historical, cultural and economic features of the city.
The city of Nikolsk was formed from the village of Nikolo-Pestrovka, which in turn was formed on the site of the village of Nikolskoye (known since 1668 , named after the church) and Pestrovka (known from the 1680s). The city received its status and name in 1954 .
The main element of the flag of Nikolsk is a white stripe - omofor (belonging to liturgical vestments). Omophor allegorically symbolizes St. Nicholas by whose name the city is named.
The diamond-shaped crystal symbolizes the cityβs oldest enterprise, the Nikolsko-Bakhmetyevsky Plant, founded by the Bakhmetyevs and Princes Obolensky , who carried out the orders of the royal court, the nobility, the owners of trading and industrial companies in Russia. Hereditary Bakhmetyev masters possessed all the subtleties of the glass craft: impeccable forms, expressive decor, sense of proportion, artistic taste, performing culture have always distinguished factory products.
Now in the assortment of the Red Giant plant there are products for all tastes: expensive crystal, various household utensils made of simple glass, church utensils, perfumery and apothecary containers.
White color (silver) symbolizes purity, perfection, peace and understanding.
The green color complements the symbolism of nature and allegorically shows the geographical location of the city of Nikolsk in the Volga Upland on the Vyrgan River, as well as the beauty of nature surrounding the city.
Green color symbolizes spring, joy, life, nature and health.
Red color is a symbol of courage, strength, labor, beauty and celebration.
