Content

The early years

He was born on June 5, 1908 in the village of Kashavyata of the Kungursky district of the Perm province (was in the Kisher district) [1] now in the Khercher district of the Perm region in a peasant family. Orphaned early.

He graduated from elementary school (5 classes). He worked on a ballast quarry, then on the railroad.

In 1940 he was called up to serve in the navy. He served in the Far East in the training unit of the Pacific Fleet.

During the Great Patriotic War

Member of World War II from March 1943 .

The first time he distinguished himself in battles on the Kursk Bulge . On July 13, the platoon commander was seriously wounded, and Sergeant Aksyonov, already a party organizer of the company, took command of the unit. Under his leadership, the platoon successfully repelled several enemy attacks. Following the battle, on August 21 , he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

Participated in the forcing of the Dnieper. By this time he was appointed party organizer of the second battalion of the 1031th Infantry Regiment.

On the night of September 25, 1943, with a group of fighters under heavy enemy fire, crossed the Dnieper southwest of the village of Oster, Kozeletsky district of the Chernihiv region . During fierce battles, the bridgehead was restrained.

On September 26, 1943, Sergeant Aksyonov died.

He was buried in the village of Pilyava, Dymer district [3] , Kiev region , Ukraine .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for courage and heroism shown when crossing the Dnieper and holding the bridgehead on the right bank, Sergeant Aksyonov Alexander Afanasevich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
