Biography
Born in the family of the manufacturer.
In the period from 1919 to 1923 he studied state sciences and philosophy at the University of Bonn and Munich.
In 1920 he became a member of the Oberland Volunteer Corps , where he actively participated in the anti-French movement in the Ruhr .
Party Activities
October 4, 1921 joined the NSDAP (No. 287). For his activities, on March 21, 1923, he was arrested by the French occupation authorities, which only prompted Hinkel to participate more actively in the life of the party. In 1923 leaves Freikor.
November 9, 1923 takes part in the Beer putsch , during which he is injured. As a participant in the procession, he received a prison term. After his release from 1924 to 1925 he was editor in chief of the nationalist Verkhnebavar daily newspaper .
Since 1928 he collaborated with Nazi publications. Since October 1930, he became an employee of the Völkisher Beobachter Berlin department, soon became the head of Joseph Goebbels ’s personal publishing house Angrif , and became the head of propaganda for the Great Berlin. Since that time, Hans Hinkel became Goebbels's closest ally.
September 14, 1930 he was elected deputy of the Reichstag from Potsdam . After the NSDAP came to power, from January 30, 1933 he was appointed state commissioner in the Ministry of Science, Arts and Public Education of Prussia. Also, from September 22, he simultaneously becomes the Secretary General of the Imperial Chamber of Culture and the head of the Society of German Culture. In July 1935, he received the rank of Commissioner.
With the outbreak of World War II, under the program of the Imperial Ministry of Propaganda, he directed the confiscation and export of cultural property from Poland. Since 1943, the imperial director of cinema under the Imperial Ministry of Propaganda.
After the war
After the war, he was arrested by American troops, kept in a concentration camp in Dachau , and then transferred to the Polish authorities, where in 1947 he was convicted of confiscation of cultural property.
In 1952, released and returned to Germany . February 8, 1960 he died in Gottingen .
